While tests have indicated the technical feasibility of producing unleaded petrol at the Whitegate refinery there are no immediate plans to do so. Leaded petrol will continue to be required for vehicles which cannot be adapted to run on unleaded petrol and there are no plans to eliminate it from the market. Dáil Éireann 377 Written Answers.
