138. Mr. Boland asked the Minister for Education whether the swimming pool attached to the former Scoil Ard Mhuire, Lusk, County Dublin could be made available for use by local residents and community groups; and, if not, the reason.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): It is not possible to make the Scoil Ard Mhuire swimming pool available for use by local residents and community groups.

The swimming pool was taken out of operation many years before Scoil Ard Mhuire closed, because of the excessive cost of heating. It is inoperable at present in any event due to structural problems and the cost of remedying these problems would not be warranted in the present financial circumstances.
