77. Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport the total number of aircraft movements in and out of (a) Weston aerodrome, County Dublin, (b) Cork Airport, (c) Shannon Airport, County Clare and (d) Dublin Airport during the past 12 months.

Minister for Tourism and Transport (Mr. Wilson): The following is the information requested: number of aircraft movements at the State airports for the period 1 October, 1986 to 30 September 1987: Cork Airport, 22,552; Shannon Airport, 49,001; Dublin Airport, 99,732. Weston aerodrome is used for general aviation purposes i.e. pleasure flights, training, etc. I understand that in the year ended 31 August 1987, there were 57,795 aircraft movements at the aerodrome, almost 56,000 of which were training flights.

[1572] Note: An aircraft movement involves the arrival (landing) or departure (takeoff) of an aircraft.
