Dáil Éireann - Volume 373 - 09 June, 1987

Written Answers. - Proposed Garda Divisional Headquarters.

68. Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Justice when the Garda division headquarters will be set up at Fermoy, County Cork.

[926] Minister for Justice (Mr. Collins): There is no current proposal to establish an additional Garda divisional headquarters at Fermoy, County Cork.

The Cork East Division which includes Fermoy, was re-organised in 1985 and it was decided that the organisational changes then introduced should meet the requirements of the force for the foreseeable future.

The organisational needs of the Garda Síochána in the Cork area, and indeed in all areas, are kept under constant review and, should the need arise at any future time, the establishment of an extra division will again be considered.
