83. Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health the number of cot deaths in Ireland in each of the years from 1980 to 1986.

Minister for Health (Dr. O'Hanlon): The number of deaths recorded in the report on vital statistics, 1984, as being due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, (international classification of diseases code 798.0) was 132. This is the last year for which detailed figures are available.
