27. Mrs. Taylor-Quinn asked the Minister for Education the number of remedial teachers which were sanctioned in 1986; the number which have been sanctioned for the academic year 1986-87; and the number which will be sanctioned for the academic year 1987-88.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): The reply is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report.

It is proposed to sanction a maximum of 27 remedial teaching posts in primary schools in 1987-88.

There are no proposals for the allocation of additional remedial posts to post-primary schools in 1987-88.
