28. Mr. Crotty asked the Minister for the Environment when a decision regarding a house improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny will be made.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Flynn): The applicant, upon surrender of a house to the local authority, was paid a £5,000 grant for the house in respect of which the improvement grant is sought. Grants for the provision of water and sewerage facilities and for the carrying out of repairs to the house cannot be allowed as, contrary to a conditions of the scheme, a period of seven years has not elapsed from the date of payment of [640] the £5,000 surrender grant. Arrangements are being made for the payment of a bathroom grant of £740.
