Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Kilmacthomas (Waterford) Court Sittings.

[629] 4. Mr. J. Fahey asked the Minister for Justice in view of the threat of suspending court sittings from Kilmacthomas courthouse, County Waterford, due to unsuitable conditions, the action he intends to take; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Mr. Collins: Under section 3 (1) of the Courthouses (Provision and Maintenance) Act, 1935, the responsibility to provide and maintain courthouse accommodation rests with the relevant local authority.

I am aware that the court accommodation in Kilmacthomas is poor. However, I am informed that Waterford County Council have prepared extensive plans for improvements and they intend to carry them out during 1987.
