191. Mr. G. Collins asked the Minister for Agriculture the steps he has taken to ensure the continuation of the western drainage scheme for 1987 and 1988.

Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Deasy): The western drainage scheme will expire on 31 December 1986 in accordance with the relevant EC regulation. The EC Commission has been asked to extend the regulation and their response is awaited. I am continuing to press for an early decision in the matter.
