Written Answers. - Donegal Social Employment Schemes.

278. Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Labour if he will give details of all social employment schemes sanctioned for County Donegal since 1 April 1986.

Minister for Labour (Mr. Quinn): Statistics on the social employment scheme are compiled on the basis of National Manpower Service (NMS) Regions. An individual county analysis will be available when the records of the scheme are fully computerised.

In the North West NMS Region, which encompasses Counties Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal, a total of 77 projects providing employment for 330 persons have been approved by my Department since April 1986.

While it is not possible to provide specific details on individual projects, 19 projects in the region are sponsored by public bodies providing employment for 141 participants, 46 projects employing 175 participants are sponsored by voluntary bodies and 12 schools in the region [1780] have received approval to appoint 14 clerks and caretakers.
