242. Dr. Woods asked the Minister for Justice the number of offences of (1) robbery and (2) armed robbery in each district in the Dublin Metropolitan Area in the first five months of 1986 or the most recent period for which figures are available; and for the same period in 1985.

243. Dr. Woods asked the Minister for Justice the number of offences of assault and wounding in (1) for Dublin Metropolitan Area, and (2) the country as a whole, in the first five months of 1986 or the most recent period for which figures are available, and for the same period in 1985.

Minister for Justice (Mr. Dukes): The only relevant Garda statistics which are available in such a manner as to enable a comparison to be made between periods of five months durations refer to indictable crimes in the categories of assault, wounding and other acts endangering life. Statistics in relation to non-indictable assaults are compiled on an annual basis and are not available for comparison in the manner sought in the Question.
