Written Answers. - Funeral Grant.

128. Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Defence when he will pay a death grant in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

Minister for Defence (Mr. O'Toole): As the person referred to was in receipt of an allowance under the Army Pensions Act, 1971, as the widow of a military service pensioner and not in receipt of a pension in her own right a funeral grant is not payable in her case.

A form on which a apply for the post-humous award of the Service (1917-1921) Medal has issued to her next-of-kin. If the application is successful a funeral grant of £300 will be paid to the person who paid the funeral account.
