61. Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the application of a person (details supplied) in County Cork for a £600 reconstruction grant; the reason for the delay in the matter; and when he will receive this grant.

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. O'Sullivan): When the applicant furnishes to the Department evidence of planning permission requested on 22 May 1986 the grant approved for an extra bedroom will be paid as quickly as possible. The applicant has been advised that payment of the grant for the installation of bathroom facilities cannot be made until certain outstanding works have been completed.

62. Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the application of a person (details supplied) in County Cork for a £5,000 new house grant; the reason for the delay in the [67] matter; and when he will receive this grant.

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. O'Sullivan): I presume that the Deputy is referring to the grant of £5,000 available where a person surrenders a house to a local authority. Payment of this grant is made as soon as possible after receipt from the local authority handling the application of a certificate indicating that the applicant has met the grant conditions in full. The certificate in this case was recently received in the Department and the grant will be paid within a few weeks.

63. Mr. Carey asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid a reconstruction grant.

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. O'Sullivan): An inspection is being arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

64. Mr. Leyden asked the Minister for the Environment if he will expedite the allocation of payment of a home improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. O'Sullivan): Grant approval in respect of the provision of sewerage facilities and a bathroom has issued but is conditional on the receipt of planning permission for the septic tank which has been requested on two occasions. The question of payment will arise when an inspection establishes that the work has been satisfactorily completed.

65. Mr. Leyden asked the Minister for the Environment if he will expedite inspection and allocation of a home improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. O'Sullivan): An inspection is being arranged in this case [68] with a view to approval of a grant. Subject to the satisfactory completion in due course of the works approved for grant, payment will then be made.
