70. Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment the reason only a reduced amount of a new house grant was paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Kavanagh): The £2,000 grant is payable in respect of a house built otherwise than by contract only where the house was not substantially completed by 1 May 1985. My Department's inspector has certified that a £1,000 grant should be paid in this case and payment was made accordingly on 31 January 1986.
