Written Answers. - Greyhound Industry.

35. Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Agriculture the study on which he based his assertion that a vast market for Irish greyhounds exists in the United States.

Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Deasy): Last year during the course of my visit to the USA I had an opportunity of looking at the greyhound industry there at first hand. I attended greyhound race meetings at a number of tracks and held discussions with many people directly involved in greyhound racing and breeding. I am satisfied that a very lucrative market exists in the US for Irish-bred greyhounds of the right type.
