158. Mr. O'Kennedy asked the Minister for Finance the amount of (a) the national debt and (b) the accumulated foreign debt as of 31 December 1985.

Minister for Finance (Mr. Dukes): The national debt at 31 December 1985 is estimated to have been £20.4 billion, of which £8.4 billion was accumulated foreign debt.
