152. Mr. Leyden asked the Minister for Agriculture the number of people who qualified for assistance under the Shannon basin relief scheme in County Roscommon; the amount of grants approved; and the average payment.

Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Deasy): A total of 706 applicants in County Roscommon have qualified for assistance under the Shannon flood scheme 1985 of which 661 have been cleared for payment to date. The total amount of grants approved is around £180,000 the average payment being £272.
