25. Mr. J. Leonard asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism in view of the imports of pre-cast concrete tunnel segments, if he proposes to grant-aid their manufacture here.

Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism (Mr. J. Bruton): I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that they do not provide grant assistance to concrete product manufacturers because there is over-capacity in the sector. The IDA estimate that imports of pre-cast concrete tunnel segments are small and are satisfied that existing manufacturers are in a position to meet demand.
