[52] 35. Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider basing the differential rents systems on the net wage of the tenant rather than on the gross wage because of the many anomalies that arise in the system.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Kavanagh): Income tax and PRSI contributions are deducted from gross income in determining the assessable income of a tenant for the purpose of the differential rents scheme.
