Mr. Daly Mr. Daly
454. Mr. Daly asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism the steps being taken to find suitable projects for the vacant advance factories in Kilrush and Kilkee, County Clare.
Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism (Mr. J. Bruton) John Bruton
Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism (Mr. J. Bruton): I am informed that the Industrial Development Authority are actively promoting the 16,000 sq. ft. advance factory in Kilrush together with the factories formerly occupied by Ceramics Ltd. and Shannon Foundry for suitable industrial projects. Yesterday, in reply to a question by the Deputy, I outlined the position regarding efforts to find a replacement project for the Litex factory in Kilkee.
As part of its small industry programme, Shannon Development is working closely with the county development team and local community development groups to encourage the development of small industry generally and to find suitable projects for vacant small factory units in Clare, including Kilrush and Kilkee.
