732. Dr. Woods asked the Minister for Labour if he has any plans to include the Institute for Industrial Research and [2125] Standards in the list of semi-State bodies in which employees will participate at board level.

Minister for Labour (Mr. Quinn): The proposed extension to the Worker Participation (State Enterprises) Act, 1977, will provide initially for employee participation at board level in a further group of six State enterprises: Aer Rianta, Bord Gáis Éireann, An Foras Forbartha, National Rehabilitation Board, Irish Steel Limited and the Voluntary Health Insurance Board.

The extension of the Act to further State enterprises will be considered at a later stage and at that time the question of including the IIRS will be examined.
