Written Answers. - Transfer of Prisoner.
Mr. Gregory-Independent Mr. Gregory-Independent
448. Mr. Gregory-Independent asked the Minister for Justice the reason he will not transfer a prisoner (details supplied) from Portlaoise Prison who went on hunger strike in support of his demand, particularly since the prisoner insists he has no connection with paramilitaries.
Minister for Justice (Mr. Noonan, Limerick East) Michael Noonan
Minister for Justice (Mr. Noonan, Limerick East): It is not the practice to give specific reasons for a decision not to transfer a prisoner from one prison to another. Such decisions are, however, reviewed from time to time in the light of all the circumstances including, where appropriate, the fact that the prisoner has applied for a transfer.
