341. Mr. G. Collins asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a new house grant and a mortgage interest subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and when they will be paid.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Spring): There has been no delay in dealing with this case. When the applicant notifies my Department that his house is complete, an inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

The applicant has been requested to confirm the date of execution of his mortgage. On receipt of this information a decision will be made regarding his eligibility for the mortgage subsidy.

Arrangements will be made for payment of the first phase of the mortgage subsidy when the appropriate claim form is submitted to my Department.
