324. Mr. Begley asked the Minister for Health the guidelines set down by the Southern Health Board for eligibility for a medical card.

Minister for Health (Mr. B. Desmond): The income guidelines used by the health boards, including the Southern Health Board, at present are as follows:

Allowance per child under 16	8.50
Allowance for other dependant	10.00
Allowance for outgoings on house — excess over	8.50

Reasonable expenses necessarily incurred in travelling to work.
