Written Answers. - County Galway School Transport.

466. Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Education if she has received an application for school transport for 15 children residing in the Rossroe/Cloonisle/ Tamnaghbawn area of County Galway [156] who attend Cashel national school, Connemara, County Galway; and if so, when a decision will be made on the application.

Minister for Education (Mrs. Hussey): My Department have received an application for the provision of a special transport service to Cashel national school from the Rossroe, Carramore, Tawnaghbawn and Cloonlee areas. In order that such a service be provided it would be necessary that there would be a sufficient number of eligible pupils in a distinct locality to ensure that a minimum of ten eligible children would be conveyed to school each day by the service.

The eligible pupils in question do not live in a distinct locality and, accordingly, I regret that it is not open to my Department to provide a special service for them.
