471. Mr. Manning asked the Minister for Education if she proposes to introduce legislation covering the reorganisation and restructuring of third-level education; and, if so, when it is expected to introduce such legislation.

Minister for Education (Mrs. Hussey): I propose to initiate discussions with the relevant interests concerning the question of bringing forward legislation to dissolve the National University of Ireland and to establish its constituent colleges as independent universities.
