Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Education (i) the number of projects in County Galway (a) under construction, (b) at planning stage and (c) waiting for departmental approval; (ii) the name and location of each project; (iii) and if she will state in respect of each project whether it is a new building, an extension or renovations to an existing building.

Total: There are five new schools and 11 extensions being planned. There is one school under review which has to be inspected to decide the nature of its development. Nine prefabricated classrooms are being replaced in four vocational schools. One new school and two extensions are under construction. Ballybane new post-primary school awaiting approval.
