752. Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Health when it is proposed to fill the vacancy for a second county physician at Monaghan County Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Health (Mr. B. Desmond): A candidate selected for appointment to this post following a competition conducted by the Local Appointments Commission last year has recently indicated to the health board that he does not now wish to accept the appointment.

In accordance with normal practice because of the lapse of time since the last competition it will be necessary to [1318] readvertise the post and my Department will be writing shortly to the board in the matter.
