Fahey asked the Minister for Agriculture the total number of applications under the Western Drainage Scheme which are awaiting approval in County Galway, the approximate time scale from the date of application to the date of approval; and the application date of files which are at present being inspected under this scheme. Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Deasy) Austin Deasy Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Deasy): On 31 March 1983 there were 1,108 applications under the Western Drainage Scheme in County Galway awaiting approval. The average time taken from the date of receipt of an application until a scheme of work is approved is about two years. The applications at present being investigated are those received in the quarters ended 31 March 1981, 30 June 1981 and 30 September 1981.
