578. Mr. B. Ahern asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if a claim for compensation for loss of semi-State pensionable jobs has been made by the former staff of the National Film Studios.

Minister for Industry and Energy (Mr. J. Bruton): Yes. Claims were made by the staff of the former National Film Studios of Ireland Ltd. for compensation, in the form of extra statutory redundancy payments, to the Employment Appeals Tribunal. The tribunal was unable to recommend the granting of such payments as they are not within its jurisdiction.
