Allen asked the Minister for Agriculture the discussions which have taken place with the farming organisations about the pollution of our inland waterways because of the improper use of pesticides and insecticides. Lenihan Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Lenihan): I am not aware of any formal discussions having taken place between my Department and the farming organisations in this regard. My Department does however, keep the agricultural advisory services advised of the precautions farmers should take with pesticides and insecticides so as to avoid their improper use including pollution of waterways.
