460. Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the facts of the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8, he will arrange as a matter of urgency for the provision of a telephone connection; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. Wilson): It has not been possible in the time available to trace an application on behalf of the person named. If the Deputy can furnish additional information about the application, e.g. when and where the application was made, further efforts will be made to trace it.

461. Mr. Keegan asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath.

462. Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who had an apparatus installed on December 1981, paid for it on 24 November 1981 and still has not been provided with a service.

Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. Wilson): When the person named was invited to sign an agreement and make advance payment it was expected that telephone service would be provided for him within about three months. Regrettably, [481] this was not possible because of an unforeseen difficulty. It is expected that service will be provided within about a month.

463. Mr. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in installing a telephone for a person (details supplied) in County Cork as he applied almost two years ago; and if he will now arrange for the installation.

Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. Wilson): It has not been possible to provide service so far for the person named because of the volume of engineering work on hands and awaiting attention in the Bandon area. It is expected that service will be provided within about six months.

464. Mr. Donnellan asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone kiosk will be provided in George's Street, Gort, County Galway.

Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. Wilson): The provision of a telephone kiosk at this location is not considered warranted at present. There is an existing kiosk within about a quarter mile at Bridge Street.

[482] Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. Wilson): The provision of a telephone kiosk in Liffey Park, Mayfield, is not considered warranted at present. There is an existing kiosk within about 200 yards at Gweedore Avenue.

468. Miss Harney asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will provide a public telephone kiosk as a matter of urgency in the Killinarden Heights area of Tallaght, County Dublin.

Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. Wilson): There are two existing telephone kiosks in Killinarden at present and there are no plans to provide additional kiosks.

474. Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the public telephone kiosk which has been sanctioned for Goulanes, Bantry, County Cork, will be provided.

475. Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the telephone of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6 will be repaired as she is living on her own and aged 88 years, and her telephone is out of order for over four months.

476. Mr. S. Walsh asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants waiting for telephone service in the Jobstown area, Tallaght; and when service will be provided for them.

Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. Wilson): There are some 15 waiting applications bearing Jobstown addresses. It is expected that service will be provided during 1983.

Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. Wilson): Terms are being quoted to the person named and service will be provided within about three months after the necessary agreement has been signed. It had been expected that the necessary [484] engineering work would be completed earlier but this was not possible because of the need to divert staff to more urgent work requiring priority attention.

Mitchell asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs how part of a telephone bill in respect of local calls was computed in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin; if, in view of the fact that the subscriber kept a record of the number of calls made in respect of the period October/ December 1981 which shows the number of calls made to be about a quarter of the number for which she was billed, he will state how such anomalies have arisen; and if the subscriber will now be credited with the difference.

Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. Wilson): The subscriber queried the local and STD call charges in the October/ December 1981 account on the 28.10.81. A reply issued on the 7.11.81 and the account was paid on the 20.11.81. No further query was raised on this account.

494. Mr. Murphy asked the Minister [487] for Posts and Telegraphs when the fault on the telephone of a person (details supplied) in County Wicklow will be repaired.

499. Mr. J. O'Leary asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the public telephone kiosk will be erected under the county councils' guarantee scheme at a place (details supplied) in County Kerry.

501. Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephones will be supplied to all telephone applicants who reside in Rathfarnham Wood, Rathfarnham, Dublin.

Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. Wilson): It is expected that the necessary cabling to enable service to be provided to applicants in Rathfarnham Wood will be completed during 1983. Service will be provided for applicants as soon as possible after the cabling has been completed.

502. Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange for the necessary repairs to be carried out to the telephone of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 14, which has been out of order for over eight weeks.
