O'Leary asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the very long delay in paying grants under the farm modernisation scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry in respect of whom repeated representations were made during the past year; and when the grants will now be paid.

Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Lenihan): Farmers may qualify for grant aid at “Other High” rate for a period not exceeding six years and as this applicant had completed six years in that category the local farm development service office has to await a communication from ACOT regarding reassessment. When this comes to hand the application will be processed without delay.
