[1316] 42. Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the quantity and species of fish dumped by fishermen in 1981 and in the first weeks of January 1982, and, in particular, the amount of dumped herring and mackerel.

Minister for Fisheries and Forestry (Mr. Daly): Information as to quantities of fish dumped is available only in relation to the eight species of fish covered by the EEC intervention arrangements which had in the first instance been offered for sale by members of the producers' organisations and failed to find a buyer at or above the official EEC withdrawal price. Information as to the disposal of withdrawn fish by the producers' organisations for the period in question is as follows:
