Written Answers. - Recruitment of School Wardens.

420. Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the difficulty in recruiting school wardens because of the low level of remuneration being offered; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. P. Barry): Recruitment of school wardens is a matter for local authorities. On the basis of inquiries made from a number of local authorities, I am satisfied that there is no general recruitment problem. I might add that no proposals to increase the remuneration of school wardens have been received in my Department in the recent past.
