Written Answers. - County Galway's Roads.

409. Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the serious deterioration in the condition of road surfaces on non-county roads in County Galway; and if he will allocate additional funds for local improvement schemes there.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. P. Barry): The introduction of the Western Package made it possible to increase grant allocations to the “Western” counties for the improvement of non-public roads, and the allocation to Galway county was increased from £171,000 in 1980 to £228,000 in 1981. The level of allocations which may be made for 1982 has not yet been determined.
