Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Expresspost Service.

5. Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why Waterford was not included in the new Expresspost service; and when it is expected that such a service will be provided.

Mr. Harte: The new Expresspost service is being introduced on an experimental basis in and between Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway where existing inter-city transport facilities are particularly suitable for the service. Consideration will be given to extending the service [1089] to Waterford and other large centres in the light of the experience gained when the service is introduced.

Mr. Deasy: Has the service been a success?

Mr. Harte: The service is experimental at the moment. All areas will be considered, including Waterford, as soon as we have the experience.

Mr. Deasy: How soon?

Mr. Harte: As soon as it is physically possible to introduce it.

Mr. Deasy: Has the Minister got a time schedule?

Mr. Harte: Unfortunately, I have not. I will try to get the information for the Deputy.
