289. Mr. L. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in the payment of a silage grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and when payment will issue.

Minister for Agriculture (Mr. MacSharry): This claim was received in my Department on 23 January and will be paid during this week. As the Winter Fodder Scheme was new and additional to normal activity it was inevitable, having regard to the tremendous response to it by the farming community, that some delay would occur in processing claims.
