Dáil Éireann - Volume 326 - 03 February, 1981 Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Sports and Community Halls. Mr. Deasy Mr. Deasy 9. Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education the plans he has to provide sports halls and complexes and community halls from the tripartite fund or from some other source; and if Dungarvan, County Waterford is included in these plans. Minister of State at the Department of Education (Mr. Tunney) Minister of State at the Department of Education (Mr. Tunney) Minister of State at the Department of Education (Mr. Tunney): The position is that the moneys made available by the Government and by the Tripartite Committee on Employment are fully committed to the projects in the national programme for the provision of recreational facilities which was announced by me on 9 April last. Dungarvan is not included among the projects in the programme and there are no additional funds at the disposal of my Department from which assistance could be made available in this case at the moment. However, I am fully aware of the demand and the need for the provision of recreational facilities in the Dungarvan area and my Department have already noted this case for consideration in the event of funds becoming available to me for the provision of recreational facilities. Mr. E. Collins Mr. E. Collins 741 Mr. E. Collins: May I take it finally from the Minister of State's reply that [741] there are no funds from the tripartite agreement available for the sports hall in Dungarvan? Mr. Tunney Mr. Tunney Mr. Tunney: If the Deputy wants to take that pessimistic interpretation of what I said, then I cannot help it. I am asking the Deputy to accept what I said in the House to Deputy Deasy when he raised this matter on the adjournment, that Dungarvan figured very prominently in the substitute list and that when I have had a full picture of the position and, in the event of the moneys being available Dungarvan would figure for consideration. Mr. E. Collins Mr. E. Collins Mr. E. Collins: If one leaves the concept of optimism and pessimism out of it, is the factual answer that no money is available from the tripartite fund for the sports hall in Dungarvan? Yes, or no? Mr. Tunney Mr. Tunney Mr. Tunney: At the moment. Mr. Wilson Mr. Wilson Mr. Wilson: Deputy Deasy is looking after Dungarvan. Mr. Tunney Mr. Tunney Mr. Tunney: Yes. I have already indicated to Deputies Deasy and Kenneally and to Minister of State Fahey my commitment to Dungarvan in the event of moneys becomming available to me. (Interruptions.)
