Mr. Horgan asked the Minister for the Public Service when it is proposed to bring the staff in the Leinster House library up to full strength in order to provide an adequate service to Deputies and Senators; the number and grade of unfilled vacancies; and the period during which each vacancy has remained unfilled.

Minister for the Public Service (Mr. G. Fitzgerald): The grade, number and date of occurrence of each vacancy at present on the staff of the Oireachtas Library is as follows:

Grade	No.	Date
Assistant Librarian	2	1 on 1 February 1980
		1 on 11 April 1980
Clerical Assistant	1	7 October 1980

Arrangements are in train for the holding of competitions by the Civil Service Commissioners for the vacancies for assistant librarian. The post of clerical assistant will be filled on 28 October 1980.
