Desmond asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the percentage of GNP allocated by Ireland to development co-operation arising from the 1980 budget. Mr. B. Desmond Mr. B. Desmond 23. Mr. B. Desmond asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the percentage of GNP allocated to development co-operation in 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1980 by the Government. Lenihan 492 Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Lenihan): With the permission of the [492] Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 22 and 23 together. The percentage of GNP allocated by Ireland to official development assistance (ODA) in the period 1977-80 was as follows: 1977—0.14 per cent of GNP (£7.31 million); 1978—0.17 per cent of GNP (£10.56 million); 1979—0.2 per cent of GNP (£14.51 million); 1980—0.19 per cent of GNP (£16.22 million). Actual disbursement of official development assistance in the period 1977-79 was as follows: 1977—0.12 per cent of GNP (£6.27 million); 1978—0.13 per cent of GNP (£8.27 million); 1979—0.18 per cent of GNP (£13.29 million).
