190. Mr. Keegan asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange for payment to be made in sterling to all recipients of British Social Welfare pensions residing in Ireland.

Minister for Social Welfare (Dr. Woods): I have no power to make arrangements on the lines suggested. As I indicated previously British social welfare pensioners residing in this country are, since October 1979, paid direct by payable orders issued by the Department of Health and Social Security at four-weekly intervals.
