Supplementary Estimates 1979. - Vote 10: State Laboratory.

Minister for Finance (Mr. Colley): I move:

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £67,000 be granted to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of December, 1979, for the salaries and expenses of the State Laboratory.

Dr. FitzGerald: Would the Minister for Finance indicate the reasons for the increase?

Mr. Colley: It is required to meet the increased wage costs arising from the implementation of the first phase of the pay policy under the national understanding and payment of certain grade increases. In addition, there is an extra provision of £7,000 on subhead (d) [2417] to take account of increased costs in the laboratory's purchases of equipment.
