240. Mr. Tully asked the Minister for [1573] the Environment the further sums that have been asked for by local authorities to meet the demand for SDA loans as a result of the increase in the income level.

241. Mr. Tully asked the Minister for the Environment the action he has taken to provide the extra money required by local authorities as a result of the increase in the amount allowed in income to qualify for an SDA loan.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Barrett): I propose to take Questions Nos. 240 and 241 together.

No such requests have so far been received. In any event the time lag between receipt of an application for a loan and the request from the applicant for payment is normally such that it is not expected that the public capital provision for the local authority house purchase loans scheme in 1979 will have to be increased for this purpose.
