Mr. Connolly asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number awaiting telephones in Portarlington, County Laois, and when they can expect to be offered the service. These will be offered service on a progressive basis following the extension towards the end of this year of the trunk exchange at Portlaoise on which Portarlington exchange depends for switching trunk calls. Mr. Connolly asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when Eden-derry exchange will be made automatic; the number of applicants for telephones in this area, and when they can expect to be connected.
