Written Answers. - Wicklow New Garda Station.

252. Mr. Kavanagh asked the Minister for Finance when it is intended to proceed with the building of the new Garda Barracks in Wicklow town to replace the inadequate and ancient premises and for which plans have been in his Department for some time now.

Minister for Finance (Mr. Colley): It is proposed to build a new Garda station in Wicklow town on the site of the existing station. Sketch plans for the new station have been approved by the Department of Justice and, following consultation with the planning authority, contract documents will be prepared. It is not possible to say at this stage when building will commence.
