180. Mr. B. Desmond asked the Minister for Labour the number of redundancy lump sums paid in each year since 1968 by reference to the number of redundancy certificates and redundancy notices, received in his Department.

Minister for Labour (Mr. G. Fitzgerald): The total numbers of rebates and lump sums paid direct from the Redundancy Fund correspond closely to the total numbers of redundancy certificates received. The total number of (1) notifications of redundancies qualified under the Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967-1973 and (2) rebates and lump sums paid is as follows:

* UDA = The Unfair Dismissals Act, 1977. MNTE = The Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act, 1973. RPA = The Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967-1973.
