476. Mr. B. Desmond asked the Minister for the Public Service the approximate numbers of persons employed on the main non-commercial State bodies, as of mid-1977, and 1978.

Minister for the Public Service (Mr. Colley): A total of 5,391 were employed in the main non-commercial State bodies at mid-1977 compared with 5,656 at mid-1978. These figures are based on the numbers employed in bodies—ten— employing 200 or more people each.
