Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in the payment of headage grants under the EEC disadvantaged areas scheme. Mr. Gibbons Mr. Gibbons 837 Mr. Gibbons: There has been no undue delay in the payment of headage grants under the EEC disadvantaged areas schemes and the position compares favourably with that for last season. All payments under the beef cow scheme and the sheep headage scheme have been completed with the exception of a small number of problem cases which are still under examination. Under the cattle headage payments scheme, grants have been paid to 37,300 applicants or almost 50 per [837] cent of all claims, Payments are proceeding and should be completed in all straightforward cases within the next month or so.
