 77. Mr. B. Desmond asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of Irish registered ships and tonnage at 1st January, 1976; the number of personnel at sea on Irish ships on 1st January, 1976; the number of shore personnel of the B & I Shipping Company and Irish Shipping Ltd. on 1st January, 1976; the number of seamen on Irish registered ships; and the number injured and killed while serving on ships during each year from 1970 to date.

(a) Irish registered ships at 1st January, 1976.
(b) Number of personnel at sea on Irish ships on 1st January, 1976:—1,037.
(c) Number of shore personnel on 1st January, 1976.
(d) Number of seamen employed on Irish-registered ships (including personnel temporarily on shore leave, etc.):
Note:—The method of compilation of these figures was revised some time ago and has resulted in the adjustment of figures published in earlier years.
